Oil drilling may go ahead in ANWR
This just sickens me: "The U.S. Senate on Thursday voted to allow oil drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), narrowly rejecting a Democratic attempt to strike the plan from a budget bill. Drilling supporters said developing the refuge's 10.4 billion barrels of crude would raise $2.4 billion in leasing fees for the government, reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil imports and create thousands of American jobs."

That's because the only way Republicans value undeveloped land is if you can drill it, clearcut it, or stripmine it.

This is just sickening. I was hoping against hope that this wouldn't happen.
Sometimes I wonder: if there was oil beneath Mount Rushmore, and the only way they could get to it was drilling through the faces of the presidents, would they do it? With Bush, you never know.

I just stumbled on to this page. You people are disgusting. Opening up 2,000 acres for drilling will not adversely impact ANWR and can help reduce foreign oil dependence. Oh, that’s right, you don’t heat your home with oil, drive a gas car or use oil generated electricity and you look down your noses at the rest of us who do. And your boogey man is BIG OIL and Republicans. Aren’t you cute in your self-righteousness!

The EIA (a government organization) shows that the probable resources in ANWR would , by 2025,reduce our need for imported oil by perhaps 4%. This does what to our foreign oil dependance? Of course the oil companies may ship it to Asia. It is their choice
