CANADA HEADS TO THE POLLS

Yes, the Canadian federal election is today. And the last pre-election poll conducted by the Strategic Counsel for CTV and The Globe and Mail predicts that the Conservatives, out of power since 1993, will be able to form a minority government with almost twice as many seats in the House of Commons as the Liberals.

(Blah.)

More throughout the day and, of course, once the results come in later on tonight.

  • Isn't a minority government more the ideal situation in canada anyway????

  • Conservative minority sounds fine to me. I think in the Westminster system having a minority is a good check on executive power since the senate is pretty impotent. Though if the Conservatives were able to eek out a majority then that Liberal loaded Senate would probably become a last bastion of defence for all liberal Canadians. (I *think* I'm getting the hang of this big-L small-l liberal stuff hehe)
